Russian Electronic Payments Market Double Growth in 2010

The market of electronic payments in Russia in 2009 amounted to more than 40 billion rubles. In 2010 it could double its growth. These figures gave the Chairman of the Board of Association "Electronic Money" (AED) Victor Dostov today at a press conference. 

According to him, in the past year, "electronic wallet" were used by 20 million Russians. 

Russia's leader in electronic money in the category "Internet-payments" became "Yandex.Money" and "WebMoney", whose combined share in the market is about 90%. In 2009 the turnover of these companies grew by 40% relative to 2008: Russia's users increased their online wallets in these payment systems for more than 17 billion rubles. 

The total number of active accounts has exceeded by 2.3 million. As the number of active accounts in 2009 the leaders were "Yandex.Money" (more than 1,2 million), and "WebMoney" - about 1.0 million accounts.
