Microsoft will be engaged in developing the unified Internet portal for government services online in Russia, head of Microsoft Russia Nikolai Pryanishnikov announced.
The web portal www.gosuslugi.ru developed by Rostelecom was launched on December 15. So far users have only been granted a sneak peek at the complete range of government services, while the bulk of services will not become available online until mid-2010, Communications Minister Igor Shchegolev said.
Microsoft is currently negotiating with the ministry. The company will provide a platform to expand the portal’s functionality: it will be possible to fill out and file applications with state agencies, and also obtain the required documents via the portal.
Many e-government solutions worldwide are based on the Microsoft platform. The portal will be further tailored and customized by Russian partners.
No deal has been reached, although the parties are already cooperating with each other.
