In 2015 Russia Will Build Landing Base for Moonwalkers on the Moon
After 2015, Russia plans to build on the Moon a landing base for unmanned spacecraft. This was announced today by Director General - Designer General of the Research and Production Association (NPO) named after Lavochkin Victor Hartov.
"In the long term (after 2015) i Russian project Luna-Resource / 2 is expected. It will establish a unified landing platform, moonwalker of long-range, rocket takeoff from the Moon, means of loading and samples storages of lunar soil for delivery to Earth. It will implement precision landing at the lighthouse located on the Moon "- he said. It is assumed "to implement the delivery of samples of lunar soil collected by moonwalker in a pre-selected areas of scientific interest."
The first phase of Russian "return" to the Moon will begin in 2013 when to the Earth's satellite will be sent a special device "Luna-Glob ". During this phase, scientists expect to study the Moon from the orbit of its satellite, as well as perform experiments on its surface. In the second phase a joint Russian-Indian project "Luna Resource / 1" will be implemented. Project "Luna Resource / 2 " will be the third stage of Russian national lunar program.
