Chemicals Cluster In The Urals Region Of Russia By 2014

A chemicals cluster will be established on the basis of OAO Uralchimplast by 2014. 

Investment in the project will exceed 13.7 billion roubles.

The project envisages construction of a gas chemicals complex with the capacity of 600 thousand tons of methanol annually. Production of novolac resins will also be organised. 

At the moment the enterprise has two lines producing formaldehyde; another line will be commissioned in 2011.

The project will be implemented in accordance to the tailor-made long term financing through the Czech Export Bank which will provide 70% of the needed resources. Some of the investment will be issued by the Austrian UCP Chemicals AG - the owner of 92% of shares in the Uralchimplast Group

Dmitry Vorobyov, the Financial Director of Uralchimplast  said  that the company is conducting negotiations on cooperation with Sumitomo Bakelite (Japan) and BASF (Germany).

Slovak Eximbanka Ready To Finance Urals Industry Modernisation

Slovak industrialists might expand their presence in the Urals. The Sverdlovsk Oblast government and the Export-Import Bank of Slovakia (Eximbanka SR) have signed the agreement on cooperation in the sphere of investment development. 

The Eximbanka SR management offered various financing options guaranteed by the Slovak Republic. The key condition to be eligible for financing is that 30 to 40% of the financial resources provided must be spent on purchases of Slovak made equipment.

The Sverdlovsk Oblast government informed that power engineering seems to have the best future for the cooperation.

Slovak SES Tlmače is prepared to participate in the construction of power plants at OJSC Uralelectromed, OJSC Sredneuralsky Copper Smelter and OJSC Nizhniy Tagil Iron and Steel Works.

Accor Group Came to Urals Russia

On 11 February 2010 the Novotel Yekaterinburg Centre hotel managed by the Accor Group, an international hotel operator, was opened in Ekaterinburg. The four-star Novotel is the French hoteliers' eighth in Russia and their first in the Urals-Siberian region. 

The Accor Group's long-term development plans for Russia and CIS countries include opening 3 to 5 proprietarily managed hotels a year. 

Hotels in Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, and Kiev are scheduled for opening in the next two years. Mr Alexis Delaroff, Director of Operations, Accor Russia - CIS, claimed that a 150-room Ibis hotel will appear in Chelyabinsk after 2012.

Taking Novotel into account, Ekaterinburg has 55 operating hotels with 6,500 beds including Park Inn Ekaterinburg Hotel, Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg, Ramada, Angelo (managed by Vienna International Hotel Management).
