Russian IT-Market Will Grow Rapidly in 2010

Global PC sales in 2010 will increase by 20% and will exceed 366 million units. 

Experts at the same time note that in Russia PC sales will grow more rapidly. In their view, this is due to the fact that Russian IT-market was more affected by the global crisis in 2009. 

The engine of the market is projected to be mobile personal computers, whose contribution to the growth rate is 90% over the next three years. The volume of the PC market in terms of money can grow by 12,2%, to 245 billion dollars. 

Marketing Director of the company "Formosa" Alesia Mazaeva believes that Russia confirms a global trend. "According to our forecasts, the growth of the PC market in our country will be more than 20% due to a deep fall in 2009.", - Said A. Mazaeva. 

The most growing segment will be notebooks and netbooks.

French Auchan Opens 13th Hypermarket in Russia

French retailer Auchan intends to open in April the 13th in Russia hypermarket of its retail chain "Auchan City". it will be located in Moscow at the shopping center "Filion" in areas that previously belonged to the French network  Carrefour.  

Auchan concluded with "Extract-Fili", owning Trade Centre "Filion", the lease agreement of the former Carrefour area for a period of 34 years. Trade area of the new hypermarket will be 4,5 thousand square meters. 

French trade group Auchan founded in 1961 by Gerard Myule, consists of more than 1,200 stores in 13 countries. Annual turnover in 2008 amounted to 39,5 billion Euro.  

In the Russia market Auchan operates since 2002. There are  24 hypermarkets "Auchan", 12 hypermarkets "Auchan City", two stores "Auchan-Garden" and two hypermarkets "Rainbow".

USA Resumes Pork Delivery to Russian Market

U.S. agreed with Russia to resume delivery of the U.S. pork to the Russian market, claimed the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Friday. 

Temporary ban on the import of pork from a number of American companies has been introduced by Russia in December 2009 owing to Russian veterinary requirements, which exclude the presence of antibiotics in meat. 

"Export volumes are critical for the U.S. meat industry. Opening of the Russian market for us this year - the fifth largest market -  this is excellent news for American manufacturers," - said U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. 

The next step, indicated in a press release, will be to develop medical services program of the U.S. "export inspection" of pork supplied to Russia. The program will include inspection of pork producers and the issuance of the relevant, recognized by Russia, export certificates of product safety. It is expected that the first American manufacturing plants will be held this certification next week.
